Our Evolution: 2022 – Today
From Focused Response to Holistic Learning ContinuityWhen Zinedine Salman launched Random Humanitarian in 2022, the immediate need was clear: families fleeing conflict needed stability, shelter, and a path forward. Our first phase was dedicated entirely to responding to those needs — delivering transitional support, setting up safe spaces, and helping families stabilize.
The Turning Point
As we worked with displaced families, we kept meeting bright, motivated students whose education had been interrupted. We also met street children who had no one to care for them, and unabled families who could not afford stability. A 14-year-old girl who dreamed of becoming a doctor. A 16-year-old boy who wanted to be an engineer. They had the talent and determination — but no way to continue their studies. That is when we realized: stability saves lives today, but education saves futures forever. We had to build learning continuity into the heart of our work.
Today, our work is balanced between stabilizing families, placing children in school, supporting street children, and providing learning continuity. We still respond to families in crisis — because hunger and instability do not wait. And we have built over 100 shelters, supported hundreds of street children, and helped hundreds of students stay in school, from primary through university.
Our mission remains rooted in Sudan and its diaspora — that is where we started, and we continue to support Sudanese families. But we have learned that crisis does not respect borders, and neither should compassion. Today we help families in Kenya, Uganda, the Philippines, and wherever else we are needed, always maintaining our commitment to learning continuity, family stabilization, and care.
