Our Evolution: 2022 - Today
From Emergency Relief to Holistic SupportWhen William Mc Vay started Random Humanitarian in 2022, the immediate need was clear: families fleeing the Sudan conflict needed food, shelter, and medical care. Our first year was dedicated entirely to emergency relief — delivering supplies to displaced families, setting up temporary shelters, and providing medical aid in safe zones.
The Turning Point
As we worked with displaced families, we kept meeting bright, motivated students whose education had been violently interrupted. A 14-year-old girl who dreamed of becoming a doctor. A 16-year-old boy who wanted to be an engineer. They had the talent and determination — but no way to continue their studies. That's when we realized: emergency aid saves lives today, but education saves futures forever. We couldn't abandon one for the other — we had to do both.
Today, our work is balanced between humanitarian aid and educational scholarships. We still deliver emergency supplies to families in crisis — because hunger doesn't wait. And we've helped over 300 students get on scholarships, from primary school through university. For our top 17 performing students, we've opened doors to universities in Europe and America, where they can access world-class education and bring their knowledge back to their communities.
Our mission remains rooted in Sudan — that's where we started, and we continue to support Sudanese families. But we've learned that crisis doesn't respect borders, and neither should compassion. Today we help families in Kenya, Uganda, the Philippines, and wherever else we're needed, always maintaining our commitment to both immediate relief and long-term education.
